HELLO WISCONSIN!

Lol, whats up everyone? Its been a little while since Ive had a post of substance so I’m gonna jump right in and attempt to clarify what exactly my lanky butts been doing for the past few weeks

After the rifle range I came back for a week or so –enjoyed being back home and most of all not having to get up at 3:30 to march off in formation. On Friday of the following week I had been running around – like usual trying to find something to do, push for new hint of progress on any of the benches (still down for the most part but no worries were working on it) , and at the VERY least stay busy. About lunch time, My Sgt came over and started asking the Cpl’s in the shop who could go up to the USS Kitty Hawk to run up the gear we had issues with. Low and behold… no one wanted to go up there for a week or two – excuses here and there - just to work on gear. Now I understand I suppose that you don’t want to leave …Its a place your comfortable, its a weekend that you might miss and all that crap, but seriously… turn down a free trip? What is WRONG with you ppl!! right… well this is how my turn went down -

SGT: Farmer – your have your courier card right?
ME: Yes Sgt
SGT: Can you go?
ME: Without a doubt Sgt -
SGT: good, get packed for Wednesday

See now? That wasn’t so hard was it? Went through my weekend like normal – went to work normal and on Wednesday I loaded up in a 2 1/5 truck and we drove the 15 or so hours to get to Yokoska (spell check?) Naval Base. Now for anyone who hasn’t been to a base at all, the Marine Corps doesn’t exactly have the “Quality of Life” that the Navy does… A.k.a. The rooms had cable tv, cable Internet, were set up to share the head and a sink with only your roommate… Amazing in other words. From there on we basically worked as close as we felt like to full 12 hours on 12 off to get the gear checked RFI. Ready for Issue (RFI) basically means that each piece of gear has to run through the preprogrammed tests that the bench has. If any test fails, you can enter fault isolation – and the computer attempts to give you an accurate localization of any fault within. Needless to say, it’s not bulletproof, it has its own problems. In any case, we worked a lot – were taken on a tour of the ship which was awesome, pictures on my flickr, and on the last possible day – we went into Tokyo itself. If you arent familiar with your major Japanese Cities… What your not? - GEEEESSE[:-)]

-From Wikipedia-

Tokyo is the most populous prefecture and city in the country. The twenty-three special wards of Tokyo, although each administratively a city in its own right, constitute the area informally considered as the “city of Tokyo” and are collectively one of the largest cities in the world with a total population of over 8 million people.[3] The total population of the prefecture exceeds 12 million.

More Specifically However, is Shibuya – Where I went and took around 850 pictures of ! YAY for digital1111

-From Wikipedia-

The name “Shibuya” is also used to refer to the central business district of Shibuya Ward, which surrounds Shibuya Station, one of Tokyo’s busiest railway stations. Shibuya is known as one of the fashion centers of Japan, particularly for young people, and as a major nightlife area.

Which in all honesty, is particularly true; everyone, even though it was a Thursday, was at the street mall buying RIDICULOUSLY expensive crap. Little stuff, a black beanie the Cpl with us bought… 30 dollars. FORGET THAT! If I spend any money out here its usually on food, did I continue that tradition? BET YOUR SWEET JOHN CANDY REAR I DID! Why John Candy you ask? Well today I watched home alone so lay off me :-D

Neway, I did eat there and I actually ate a pretty cool place. Wolfgang Pucks Restaurant. Very trendy lol – kinda felt out of place, but I wanted to give it a try. It was the kind of restaurant where you ask what type of food you want, and they make it with the ingredients of the day. What did I eat. A Baked Salmon (although I don’t think it was actually baked, maybe it was pan seared for a second, and then taken off. Imagine dipping your toe into a pool of water in Antarctica, you barley touch and reel your foot back in a 4x human speed. Thats about how I see them “blackening” my salmon. NEWAY it was still good – lightly toasted bread, fresh lettuce with a little mayo I think, served on a bed of French fries lol. For a very simple dish – I FELT very trendy lol, All I was missing was the thick black rim glasses and a suit with a flamboyantly colored tie or something. In other word… an enjoyable experience. We headed back a short time after that, had to be up and gone the next day, but that in … a few words was my trip to Tokyo (Shibuya) I still managed to talk to Melissa everyday – I waited up for her and she got up a little early; the two of us being the EVER adaptable couple. So the whole trip was enjoyable, Ive got a pretty special day coming up soon so as soon as the package has been delivered… Ill give you a run down on it – Who knows, Until the next time I see ya – Love ya guys!11111111

Wow! Wolfgang Puck restaurant….850 pictures and getting to work 12 hours a day…..yup you were busy!

Good choice in going….how many opportunities would you normally have…right? At least now you know what to expect when going to a Naval base!
